BACKGROUND

From ticketing platform to corporate gateway

Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) plays a central role in Indonesia’s mobility and logistics infrastructure, connecting people and goods across the archipelago. As the company moved toward its vision of becoming a World-Class Operator, its website needed to represent more than ticketing and passenger information. It had to reflect the scale, credibility, and ecosystem of a national organization.

With ticket sales moving off the site, the website needed to take on a more focused corporate role. KAI partnered with us to revamp it into a modern, business-oriented platform that could present its corporate information, strategic initiatives, and wider ecosystem with more clarity.

CHALLENGE

Unifying many business units under one corporate experience

KAI’s scale meant the website had to serve many needs at once.
Each business unit had its own services, information, and content priorities, all of which needed to be represented within one consistent experience.

At the same time, the previous website had been live for years and carried a large volume of content owned by different teams. Moving to a new platform meant more than migrating pages. It required reviewing existing content, aligning ownership, and reorganizing the site, so important information could be easier to find and manage.

USER INTERFACE

Making a large ecosystem easier to navigate

To support KAI’s wide ecosystem, the website needed to make complex information easier to explore without making the experience feel fragmented. We designed clearer entry points to help visitors move from corporate information to the right KAI services and related platforms more easily.

The mega menu became the main entry point into KAI’s wider offering, while page templates kept similar sections familiar across the site. For selected initiatives, such as Access by KAI, we created a more tailored design when the content needed stronger emphasis. Clearer visual hierarchy and dedicated call-to-action sections also helped turn a large corporate website into a more guided experience.

Flexible Content Management

Making content easier to manage across teams

Behind the interface, the new website needed to work for the teams responsible for keeping KAI’s information accurate and up to date. We built a content management system (CMS) that lets multiple business units update their own sections while keeping the overall website consistent.

The migration process was treated as an opportunity to bring more order into the website. Together with KAI’s stakeholders, we helped review existing content, align ownership, and move important information into a better organized structure. The website was also developed in Bahasa Indonesia and English to reach national and international audiences, supported by analytics and SEO setup to help KAI manage visibility and performance after launch.

Enterprise-Grade Security with SSO

Supporting secure access for internal teams

For a corporate website managed by multiple teams, access needed to be secure without adding unnecessary friction. We implemented Single Sign-On (SSO), allowing internal users to access the CMS through KAI’s existing login system.

This helped make the platform easier to access while still aligning with KAI’s security requirements. Through warranty support, our tech team also stayed on standby after launch to help resolve issues quickly as the website settled into use.

RESULT

A corporate website built to carry KAI's next chapter

The revamped website gives KAI a more credible, modern, and business-oriented digital presence that better reflects its vision of becoming a World-Class Operator.

With bilingual experience and clearer site structure, the website helps visitors understand KAI’s corporate ecosystem more easily while strengthening its role as a gateway to KAI’s services, subsidiaries, and related platforms.

For internal teams, the platform also makes content easier to manage across business units, supporting KAI as its digital presence continues to grow.
