BACKGROUND

Turning a barbershop philosophy into a take-home brand.

1925 Grooming Co. is the product brand of Barberia, one of Jakarta’s pioneering premium barbershops known for its craftsmanship and understated luxury. Launched in 2019, 1925 carries that same intention into a take-home range of grooming essentials, from hair styling and beard care to fragrance, candles, and incense.

They partnered with us to give the brand its first owned digital home: a direct-to-consumer storefront as considered as the products themselves.

CHALLENGE

Carrying a barbershop's refinement into a digital storefront.

With its reputation built through Barberia’s physical spaces and professional expertise, 1925 was ready to bring that same refinement to a direct-to-consumer channel online. The storefront had to feel unmistakably like the brand while supporting everything expected from a modern e-commerce experience, from browsing and checkout to marketplace connectivity and local payment, all without losing the restraint that defined it.

USER EXPERIENCE

Shaping a premium storefront that feels editorial

We carried the barbershop’s atmosphere straight into the storefront. It opens into a dark, low-lit palette with warm gold accents, letting moody product photography and generous space carry the brand’s tone. The feel stays close to the barbershop itself: minimal, deliberate, with a quiet sense of luxury.

The journey takes cues from editorial storytelling, moving beyond a traditional product catalogue. Products are introduced through the brand’s own philosophy of care and restraint, grouped simply into grooming and lifestyle, so discovery feels considered while checkout stays direct when a customer is ready to buy.

SCALABLE COMMERCE

Powering a fully custom storefront with commerce built to scale

We built the storefront on Shopify Hydrogen, a headless setup that allows the storefront experience to be designed independently from the commerce engine behind it. Shopify brought a proven, scalable foundation, so the essentials underneath (cart, checkout, and inventory) ran dependably. That gave the website the flexibility to carry 1925’s identity without being constrained by a standard template.

To meet customers wherever they shop, we connected the storefront with Biteship for logistics, Shopee and Tokopedia for marketplace sync, and Xendit for local payment. Each component was introduced through a staged rollout to keep the launch stable.
